Day 1 – Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park:
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your Miana Tours & Travel guide.
Enjoy a scenic drive across Uganda’s countryside to Kasese, near the DR Congo border.
Settle into your lodge or community camp, meet your trekking team, and prepare equipment for the climb ahead.
Day 2 – Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut (2,650m):
After a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority at Nyakalengija trailhead (1,600m),
begin your trek through Bakonjo villages, banana plantations, and dense montane forest.
Wildlife sightings may include colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and rich birdlife.
Overnight at Nyabitaba Hut with panoramic views over Kasese.
Day 3 – Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut (3,505m):
Descend to cross the Mubuku River before climbing through bamboo forests and slippery moss-covered terrain.
Enjoy your first spectacular views of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke.
Enter the surreal zone of giant heathers and lobelias before reaching John Matte Hut.
Day 4 – John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut (3,962m):
Cross the Lower Bigo Bog – a true Rwenzori highlight – hopping across tussocks and wooden planks.
The reward is the stunning Lake Bujuku, surrounded by Mount Baker and Mount Stanley.
Overnight at Bujuku Hut in the heart of the mountains.
Day 5 – Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut (4,541m):
Climb steep slopes using ladders and pass through the magical Groundsel Gully.
This high-alpine environment feels otherworldly as you ascend toward Elena Hut.
Temperatures drop significantly – proper layering is essential.
Day 6 – Elena Hut to Margherita Peak (5,109m):
A pre-dawn start for the ultimate challenge.
Navigate glaciers, icy rock, and strong winds to reach the Stanley Plateau,
then scramble to the summit of Margherita Peak.
Celebrate your achievement before descending to Kitandara Hut via Scott Elliot Pass.
Day 7 – Kitandara to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m):
Ascend toward Fresh Field Pass (4,282m), enjoying expansive views of the Congo basin.
Descend through alpine moss and rocky terrain to Guy Yeoman Hut,
a historic campsite once used by the Duke of Abruzzi.
Day 8 – Guy Yeoman to Nyabitaba & Nyakalengija:
A long descent through dramatic cliffs, bamboo forests, and river crossings.
Enjoy a hot lunch at Nyabitaba before completing the trek at Nyakalengija.
Overnight in Kasese with well-earned rest and celebration.
Day 9 – Transfer to Entebbe International Airport:
After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe with a lunch stop in Mbarara.
Arrival in the evening for your outbound or overnight flight.
