Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Morning pickup from Kigali airport or Kigali hotel. En route enjoy insightful stops at Nyanza King’s Palace and Butare Museum
to explore Rwanda’s royal and cultural history. Arrive in Nyungwe in the afternoon, settle into your lodge on the forest edge
and prepare for tomorrow’s early start. (Overnight: Chimpanzee Lodge – HB)

Day 2 – Chimpanzee Trekking & Nyungwe Canopy Walk

Rise early for briefing and a guided chimpanzee trek (Gisakura / Uwinika / Kitabi sections). Time with chimpanzees is limited
to the permitted observation window – a thrilling and fast-paced encounter. In the afternoon experience the iconic Nyungwe
canopy walk for sweeping forest vistas and a visit to a local tea plantation to learn about cultivation and processing.
(Overnight: Chimpanzee Lodge – FB)

Day 3 – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After a relaxed morning depart for Volcanoes National Park. The road climbs toward the dramatic Virunga foothills
– habitat of the endangered mountain gorillas. Evening briefing and overnight near the park. (Overnight: La Palme Hotel – FB)

Day 4 – Gorilla Trekking & Iby’iwacu Cultural Village

Report to the park HQ for briefing before your mountain gorilla trek. Treks vary in length (30 minutes to several hours)
depending on gorilla locations; observation time is limited by permit rules – a profoundly moving hour with the family.
In the afternoon visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to meet Gorilla Guardians and participate in traditional activities.
(Overnight: La Palme Hotel – FB)

Day 5 – Transfer to Akagera National Park & Evening Drive

Early departure toward Akagera National Park. Arrive and enjoy a late afternoon game drive across open savanna and lakeshore habitats.
Akagera offers classic African game viewing with the bonus of scenic wetlands. (Overnight: Akagera Rhino Lodge – FB)

Day 6 – Morning Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema

Morning game drive to seek elephants, buffalo and antelope; afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema to observe hippos,
waterbirds and crocodiles from the waterline – a special perspective on Akagera’s wetland ecosystems.
(Overnight: Akagera Rhino Lodge – FB)

Day 7 – Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast transfer to Kigali. Time permitting, enjoy a short city orientation or visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial
for historical context before your international departure. End of Miana Tours & Travel services.
